Kathryn Cave was born in Aldershot in Hampshire. She has three grown-up children and four grandchildren. Kathryn has written more than 20 children's books for all ages including Something Else. Chris Riddell was a student of Raymond Briggs at Brighton. He now works in a range of different areas of illustration, including political cartoons. He has written and illustrated many children's books and has won the Kate Greenaway Medal twice and the Nestle Children's Book prize seven times.

Mein Neffe liebt dieses Buch und seit er lesen kann, liest er die deutsche Ausgabe immer wieder, da sie jetzt englisch lernen gäbe ich ihm dieses Buch zu Weihnachten geschenkt. Wir haben es auch gleich gelesen und er übt schon fleißig....

Ein wunderschönes Kinderbuch.Ich habe es als Kind geliebt und lese es noch heute gern. Eine schöne, lehrreiche Geschichte, liebevoll gestaltete Bilder und ein Schreibstil, der sowohl im Englischen als auch im Deutschen zeigt, mit wie viel Liebe ein Kinderbuch gestaltet werden kann.Schon immer ein tolles Buch gewesen und wird es auch zukünftig bleiben. Eine Geschichte für jede Generation, eine Geschichte über das Anderssein, Toleranz und darüber, dass eben doch die inneren Werte zählen.
Gruppendruck und Ausgrenzung von Fremden-Dieses schwierigen Themas nimmt sich die Autorin auf unnachahmliche Weise an: Die Gefühle des kleinen "Irgendwie anders"- so der deutsche Titel- sind für Kinder nachvollziehbar- keinen Freund haben, nicht mitspielen dürfen- das kennt jeder. Und doch ist keine Spur von moralinsauerer Belehrung in diesem wunderschön und illustrierten und geschriebenen Buch. Im Gegenteil: Zum Schluß zeigt sich auf überraschende Weise, dass jeder irgendwie anders ist und dass es das Beste ist, einfach ein wenig Platz zu machen.
Ich liebe das Buch und hab es schon oft im Einsatz in Grundschulen gesehen. Wirklich toll! Auch die Illustration ist sehr liebevoll!
Das Buch eignet sich z.B. super für den Englisch-Unterricht in der GS. Es ist allerdings etwas länger, eine Schulstunde reicht also nicht aus. Die Geschichte ist sehr schön, macht den Kindern bewusst, dass Ausgrenzen niemandem etwas Gutes tut und passt super zum Thema Inklusion.
Wonderful book, for young and old. I read this to my kids when they were little and even now (7&11) they can read or listen to this book again with interest. It's a wonderful read and one of the best gifts I can imagine to give to a child (and their parents!).
